USS Russell DDG-59 Makes History with Her Blog

Apr 16, 2008 in Navy

We at Armed Forces Advantage are excited to offer this link to the USS Russell blog.  This ship has opened its virtual hatches and is giving the world a view of shipboard life few ever experience. Since Armed Forces Advantage was started by a navy guy it seems fitting to have a link to a navy blog on this site. If any of you Armed Forces Advantage readers are curious about life at sea, check this blog out.

Report of Free Tuition Proposal in Alabama

Mar 11, 2008 in Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Education, Navy, Veterans, national guard

Behind the Star is reporting that there is a proposal in the Alabama legislature to offer free tuition to servicemembers who have served on active duty at any state college, university, technical college, community college, or junior college.

I have no further information regarding this report and have searched Google News with no hits. Are there any readers from Alabama with additional information regarding this proposed legislation?

Navy Suspends CLEP/DANTES/SAT/ACT Testing

Mar 05, 2008 in Education, Navy, Testing, Tips

I just got word that all Navy sites worldwide have suspended testing for all College Level Examination Program, DANTES, SAT, and ACT exams until further notice.

It seems that there was a major test security breach at a Navy testing facility and the exam writers have requested suspension of testing while an investigation takes place. If you are Navy you may test at other service’s test sites or with the computer based exams.

The DANTES test center look-up is down on their web site so you can call DSN: 922-1111 ext 3122 or Commercial: (850)452-1111 ext 3122 and they will tell you the nearest test center for you. I hope you do well on your exams!
