VA Mortgage Video on Youtube

Mar 06, 2008 in Debt, Tips, Veterans

VA Mortgage Center (not a government agency) has released a 4 minute video on youtube to educate veterans and the public in general about the benefits of VA mortgage loans. I can not speak to the quality of the company as I have never worked with them but their video is a helpful if simplistic service to make a complex issue easier to understand. If you have 4 minutes (well 3 and change…the ending is an ad and disclaimer) to spare and are looking to buy a house, it might be worth your time.

In the interest of truth in advertising I need to tell you that I am opposed the some of the main benefits of the VA loan. No money down gives you a huge loan and no equity for a long time and in today’s declining market it might be best to save up at least 20% to reduce your debt load so that when you’re leaving the service and possibly reducing your income, you have a better chance of avoiding any debt related crisis. Debt is not good at any time and its even worse when you’re transitioning to a new career/place/job… I want you to have access to the information you need but I had to tell you how I feel about debt for vets or anybody.

What do you think about those huge props in the video?
